I have a favorite composer: Frédéric Chopin. Fantaisie Impromptu in C sharp has to be one of the most exciting and complex pieces ever written (says the woman who has never composed so much as a verse) and Nocturne for Piano in C Sharp Minor is so hauntingly beautiful. Chopin, more than anyone else, inspires me to learn to play the piano.
**Can I just take a break here to confess that with all thing musical I feel a bit foolish. It’s almost like I’m Lady Catherine from Pride and Prejudice, “It is of all subjects my delight… There are few people in England, I suppose, who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.”**

So when I was listening to My Favorite Things by Josh Wright, I wasn’t surprised at all to find that my favorite piece was also written by Chopin. Who else could inspire me so?
Just watch this! If you can get over the destruction of what was once a beautiful piano, that is quite an amazing sight!
How could you NOT want to be able to do that!? By the way, immediately after watching this, Jack spent a while playing at the piano. Even Jack is inspired by Chopin
Beyond the compositions of Chopin (which need no embellishment), Josh Wright’s arrangements of well known songs such as My Favorite Things, Over the Rainbow, and Stairway to Heaven are wonderfully complex and bring a brand new dynamic to the beloved classics. The Stairway to Heaven/Castle on a Cloud arrangement was just beautiful and I was totally brought back to my high school days.
Josh Wright is one talented man and this CD is just wonderful. I have loved listening to it while we are in the car or around the house.
Josh Wright also wants to help learn to play! Beyond inspiring we music lovers, he actually wants to TEACH us! Thanks to modern technology we can have one such as Josh mentor us in the comfort of our own home.
