Hard Working Day

Matt woke up just after 5 am this morning to pick up Brooklyn from Ellsworth. After he got home, I left to run with Shelly. When I got home I put on some work gloves and helped Matt clear out most of our back yard. We were in and out (mostly out) for about six hours working out there. We borrowed a chainsaw and took down some trees, we bought some pruning shears and Matt got to use his machete. The difference is amazing. Brooklyn watched the kids while we worked. She called me in whenever Spencer needed to eat but for the most part, I was able to work with Matt the whole time. We don’t have a lawn yet, but now at least we have a yard. It should only take one or two more hard days to get it ready for sod or seed. We’ve done all we can do by hand and now we need to borrow a tractor to get all of the stumps and roots and we need to take down the fence that is already up so that we can get rid of the rest of the evergreen trees. We’re leaving the hardwoods and when the leaves change in the fall it will be so pretty.

I am just exhausted. But it’s a good tired after a long hard day of manual labor. Like when your muscles get sore the day after you exercise. Good sore, good tired. It’s much better than being tired just because you are lazy and haven’t done anything in years.
