This week’s forecast told of cloudy skies and rain all week. So, believe it or not, that made yesterday morning the perfect day to go to White Sands with friends for a photo shoot. No sun = no shadows. Perfect for portraits!
Just because my kids don’t go to public school doesn’t mean they don’t get to have their school pictures taken :) Personally, I think my pictures are a lot better then the pics they take at school even though they are in no way traditional school pictures. I can’t wait to print these out!
So we drove out to find that our favorite spot (nice steep dunes perfect for sledding) had a huge lake of rain water at the bottom. We parked away from the water, but we should have known that wouldn’t have been a big enough deterrent for our kids. I’m glad we didn’t keep them away, the water was beautifully clear and it felt really good with the heat.
They are in no particular order, and some aren’t in perfect focus, but too beautiful to discard.
I bet you can’t guess who my favorite subject was. She was beautiful just playing in the water and she had no idea I was there.
And then the sun made an appearance, so these next few are pretty bright.
When they say “White” Sands, they aren’t kidding.
And it is so soft that you don’t even mind if it gets in your shoes.
We were able to go with one of our favorite families.
This is Spencer’s friend Braxton. These two are attached at the hip. Birthdays two weeks apart. I’m so glad my little boy finally has a friend of his own.
This is Novalie, she and Emma are buds. Lucy will join them when she is in the mood, but mostly she is waiting with much anticipation for a little girl her age.
Bella. Spencer or Jack will marry her.
The Dad. Don’t you love the lake he is about to land in! It was such a great day.
And Amy my running buddy. I have a feeling that once she leaves, I won’t love New Mexico nearly as much as I do now. It’s a good thing I have Cherie and my other Amy too (I’m adding you to the list too, LeAnn).
