I texted Matt the other day saying something like “Why must he have a meltdown EVERY time we leave the house?”. “He” being Jack. It is always either because we won’t let him take a toy, or he didn’t like what was in his sippy cup or something equally egregious. Code 4 tantrum. I hate it.
The other day it was because he wanted to wear his brother’s shoes (normally I would have let him, but not these shoes).
Yesterday we managed to get out the door for swimming lessons without any problems! I was so excited.
The kids did great in their lessons (Lucy’s a regular pro by this point) and Emma and Spencer are coming right along too. Their teacher went over by 15 minutes so they could play extra games while I read my book and Jack played happily in the child center. I was feelin’ pretty good.
Then I went to pick Jack up. The minute I showed up I knew we would have a problem. He had found… dun dun DUN…
a Spider-Man toy.
Oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth that followed when I told him he had to leave it.
He screamed and thrashed the five minutes it took to walk to the car and get him buckled in (ok,with the thrashing combined with my waddling it took more like 10 minutes). He screamed the 7 minute drive back to our house and he screamed for a good 20 minutes after we got in the door. He literally had to be dragged inside.
On our doorstep we had four packages waiting for us.
Four? I was only expecting one!
Light bulbs went off as I opened them one after another. One book that I had ordered and two for me to review.
And a mystery package from Amazon.com. I started to get a little nervous. Was I buying stuff in my sleep? I get a lot from Amazon but I usually remember when I buy something.
Then I got REALLY nervous. I DEFINITELY would have remembered this! Uh oh, did Matt buy me a present and forget to tell me not to open it?
I ran to my computer and checked my Amazon account. Nope. No one on our account had ordered it. Then I had the brilliant idea to check the packing slip (a lot of panic would have been avoided if I had just done that first).
My day officially went from awful to awesome! It’s always nice when people know EXACTLY what to get you for your birthday! Blogs are great for that :) Early birthday presents are great!
I had planned on hanging up my tool belt until after the little guy is born… but THIS baby is just pleading with me to break her in! I know just what to do with it too :)
