Almost… but not quite

You know the movie “Not Quite Human”? Well I’ve decided to be not quite vegan. Almost vegan.

Why almost? Because I’m not all about the “cause” that vegans are about. It’s for my health and not to protest animal rights.

Why not vegetarian then? Isn’t that almost vegan? Nope. Because meat is not my problem. My problem is cheese! It’s much more likely that I will find good, cheese less recipes from vegans than vegetarians.

What do mean my “almost”? I mean that most of my diet will consist of vegan foods, but I would not say no to a chicken casserole or a cheeseburger every once in a while (and by that I mean once a week or so). And I won’t get rid of eggs, parmesan or cottage cheese (and maybe feta). I need those to not loose my mind!

Huh? Ok let me explain! I have been sick to my stomach for almost a week. Every time I eat I get sick. And before you ask. NO I’m not pregnant. Yes, I’m sure… YES! I am SURE! Stop asking.

So I after hearing about a friend who had to detox her body because of all of the problems she was having, and knowing how much better she will feel because of it… I decided to do the same thing.

The result? Well, after a day full of being nauseous. I had a smoothie for breakfast (a little milk in it). Then I had a salad for lunch (with a tiny bit of cottage cheese) and I felt AWESOME the whole day! So much so that by the time Matt suprised me with Olive Garden for our Anniversary, I didn’t get sick at the Cheese Ravioli in Meat Sauce (SO good). I thought about getting a vegan meal at Olive Garden… but I didn’t 🙂

Then I had my leftovers for breakfast. Then my sweet Lucy made me lunch… jelly with cinnamon and sugar on a hot dog bun. While not my first choice, I was not going to turn up my nose at the meal my daughter had taken upon herself to make (she made one for everyone when we were playing outside, I had no idea what she was up to). Then after grocery shopping and rewarding myself with a little treat I learned my lesson. I hadn’t even finished that tiny bag of skittles before I wanted to vomit. So we had baked potatoes for dinner. I’ve learned my lesson!

And on a side and somewhat related note. After a day and a half of eating like this I am down two pounds. WAHOO!

Now if you don’t mind, I have a smoothie to make 🙂
