Oi!

Yesterday morning, the kids and I walked to the Gym where I was able to bike for 20 minutes before Spencer and Emma got into it and we had to leave.  So we walked around the track for a bit afterwards to burn off the extra energy (that the kids had, I was pretty beat).

After quiet time, we walked to the Bx to pick up a helmet for Lucy (her bike was in the Jeep, which was safely delivered last week) and some animal toys for the kids (since they really need to be able to play with something other than the glass mugs and forks and stuff that we’ll have to replace if they keep breaking them).  And then we walked to the Commissary, which was, mercifully, just across the street from the Bx and filled up our stroller with groceries.

I got in quite a bit of walking and got a little bit of sun on my pasty face (I love New Mexico).

On the down side, my back hurt so much by the end of the night that Matt had to take charge of putting the kiddos to bed… again.  My back still hurts today and after school I parked myself on my bed and I’m going to sit here for a couple of hours and hope the pain subsides.  I want to be able to take the kids to the park later and I can’t do that if I can’t walk.

Oddly though, I’m relieved that it is my back hurting rather than my pelvis (which is what usually gives me problems).  I don’t know what made the difference, but it’s nice to have a “normal” ache and pain from pregnancy rather than an obscure one that makes me want to cry as well as keeps me from walking.  At least with the back ache, it seems to go subside a bit once I get moving.  But I don’t want to push it.  I’m not going to bike today or do too much walking.

It’s SO nice to have weather that allows us to get out and walk.  AND to live in a community where I don’t have to drive if I don’t want to!  I’ve missed that so much and it really makes the difference between whether I will get out of the house or not.  I hate piling the kids in the car and dealing with car seats and traffic.  This is a really nice change and I’m so happy we got a house on base.  Now if I need to go to the grocery store for just a couple things, I can go.  It’s only 1/2 mile away!  And the gym is a little less than that (until we get into our house, it will be maybe 3/4 of a mile then, but still!)
