Sleep Training Does Not Equal Crying It Out

I had to draw the line with Spencer after last night. Somehow he knew that Matt and I needed sleep more than anything else after our hard day yesterday and he used that knowledge to torture us. Also, Brooklyn was sleeping on our couch, so Matt couldn’t take him downstairs to rock in the chair.

So tonight, I wrapped him up while he was still happy and smiley. I rocked him a bit and kissed him all over his face. Then I put him in his bed and every time he spit his binkie out I held it until he started to squirm and then gave it back to him. After a few minutes, Matt called me for scripture reading. Spencer was happy, so I checked on him every 10 or 15 minutes. He fussed once after about 45 minutes and by the time I had gotten upstairs, Lucy had already put his binkie back in his mouth and he was asleep by the time, Lucy and I had left the room. He is OUT! And NO CRYING! I am so proud of him and so looking forward a possible peaceful night. I’ll let you know how it goes.
