What a week

Select Dynamic field

Wow, I have had quite the week. Last Sunday our house was struck by lightning. It was unreal how loud it was. It blew up the cable line (there are bits of cable all over the driveway), which fried our power, hot water tank, our satellite dish, our cable internet and (since we have Vonage) our phone. We got our electricity back during the night, our hot water a day or two later and today (after 9 days) our internet. We still don’t have phone or TV but I should be ok now that I have at least one way to communicate with the outside world.

We also discovered this week that Spencer is our crankiest baby by far. He seems to feel that a moment not spent screaming is a moment wasted. The only thing that seems to work with him is “The Cuddle Cure” which I got from the book “The Happiest Baby on the Block” (thanks a million Donna). It calms him quickly and he doesn’t really cry while I’m going it, but he doesn’t fall asleep either and I can only swing him around for so long before my arms feel like they are going to fall off. He loves his sling but I need to put him in it when he’s in the right mood. And I will never let anyone tell me that binkies are bad. It’s a good thing he’s cute and it’s a good thing he likes his daddy! I’d post some pictures of him but he has his zits right now. Give it a week.

On the bright side, my days have been much more productive this last week. I’m glad to get back into some kind of routine. I even started exercising yesterday (pilates and weights). And once my foot stops hurting I can start running again. I also started a Bar Harbor branch of the girls nights that I loved so much in Seattle. Our first one was this last Thursday and it had a good attendance. I even made my very own “White Chocolate Blueberry Cheesecake”, it’s my own recipe 🙂
