I have just written my congressmen and women asking them NOT to allow this bailout for the mortgage companies. This is the email I wrote to them:
I watch the news and I realize that the economy is going through a rough patch. But I am begging you not to allow this bailout to mortgage companies! There is a way to fix this problem without extending loans to them.
The best way would be to change the mark-to-market accounting law and to extend insurance to the mortgage businesses.
By changing the mark-to-market accounting law, just for sub-prime loans and just for a short amount of time, that will jump start the market and get it running again.
If we went one step further and insured those mortgages, they would be marketable again.
I already have one mortgage that I am not happy with, I don’t want any more. And I would much rather see my tax dollars be used to fix roads, build bridges and pay for the arts in schools. I DO NOT want them being used to bail out greedy corporate executives who were stupid and thought of nothing but filling their pockets. It was lack of public morality that got us in this mess. PLEASE don’t let those stupid CEO’s walk away from their mess with millions of dollars in pensions and other benefits for screwing the American people. Please don’t make it worse.
I will not vote for anyone, Republican or Democrat, who votes for this and I will try my hardest to make sure no one else will either.
On the other hand, if you are valiant in your effort to fix this the right and most effective way, I will certainly honor you as a true public servant.

If you agree with this, please write to your representatives and tell them. If not, write and tell them. The administration is trying to shove a 700 billion or more (up to 2 trillion) dollar debt down our throats and telling us that we only have 5 days to decide.
Last time I was told “It’s now or never” I was at a time share presentation. We didn’t sign up for it and we are very glad. Any one who says “it’s now or never” is trying to screw you and this isn’t any different just because it’s the government.
And no, I don’t want any hate comments telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about. If you don’t agree, that’s ok. Write your reps and tell them it’s a great idea.
